Mark Neuhengen
I am a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Loyola University Chicago where I studied history and religious studies with minors in Islamic World Studies, Arabic Language and Culture, and Catholic Studies. Throughout my time at Loyola, I developed several independent research projects and gave presentations at the Newberry Library, the University of Pittsburgh, and the annual meeting of the American Historical Society. As a Ricci scholar, I studied the venerated dead on location in Beijing and Rome. During my senior year, I wrote one of the first histories of EWTN (Eternal Word Television Network) under professor Elizabeth Shermer as a Ramonat Scholar. I was also Loyola University’s candidate for the Rhodes Scholarship during the 2020 cycle. Currently, I serve the Catholic community of St. Teresa of Avila as their Director of Evangelization and Parish Mission. While I love learning about any era of history, I have a special interest in American Catholic history, religious history, the history of social movements and the history of the American right. My work can be found at the National Catholic Reporter and on Twitter at @mneuhengen
